Cooking health recipes can be fun. At our 2009 conference Chef Michael Wedderburn demonstrated how to prepare several dishes and offered useful cooking tips. We've captured his demonstration in a cooking video that we're sure you'll enjoy. He makes a version of the Crustless Spinach Pie recipe on our Recipes page.

Our 2009 Fun, Fit & Fabulous conference started many women on a journey to better health. You can see photos from the conference in our event slide show in our Conference Overview section. We've also added a list of health observances that call attention to health issues women might be concerned about for themselves or their families. For December, there are two especially important topics: safe toys and hand washing. With holiday gift giving a few weeks away and concerns about the flu continuing to make the news, safe toys and proper hand washing are two topics you might want to learn more about.
On Saturday, August 29, 2009, a record number of attendees participated in the 7th annual conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. Gloria Araya-Quinlan started the morning by bringing everyone to their feet with an exciting salsa warm up. WHP TV 21's News This Morning Anchor Sherry Christian provided a welcome and served as the emcee for the day. Prior to the first workshop session, Aaron Walton, Highmark Inc., reminded the women how important it is to keep their health a priority as the gatekeepers of their families' lives.
Yvonne Cook, Highmark Vice President of Community and Health Initiatives, welcomed keynote speaker Dr. Ian Smith, who spoke about the most prevalent women's health issues of today. He also answered questions from attendees. Everyone enjoyed a day full of informative workshops, inspiring presenters, important health screenings and the opportunity to rejuvenate a healthier lifestyle.
